Artémis coeur d'Artichaut est une curiosité de la rentrée cinéma, ce film indépendant en noir et blanc qui plonge dans "la nouvelle vague" depuis la normandie nucléaire en super 8 étonne par sa fraîcheur et son originalité et récolte une très bonne presse en France (Le Monde, Les Inrocks, Les Cahiers Du Cinema)
Hubert Viel signe avec ce film son premier presque long, illustré par sa propre musique, à l'égal du film, simple et vraie, qui sort chez Musique Large sous le nom de Variations sur Artémis, augmentée de trois remixes et d'une version alternative du générique-single Chewing Gum par la talentueuse Mesparrow, le tout mixé & arrangé par Remi Alexandre (Syd Matters).

Articulés autour de synthétiseurs et de cuivres, les thèmes développés par Hubert Viel sont tranquillement envoûtants et permettent des immersions immédiates, aussi efficaces sorties du film. Les six titres originaux qui composent ces variations sont proposés avec trois remixes, ceux de Gregaldur, guitariste de la scène alternative Lo-fi qui donne un concert dans le film en jouant son propre rôle, Anne Laplantine qui propose un remix singulier car transversal synthétisant l’ensemble de la B.O, et enfin Jean Nipon (Clek Clek Boom) de la scène électro parisienne et livre un remix assez sophistiqué.

Artémis coeur d’Artichaut is the French cinematic surprise of late 2013.
Hubert Viel’s first full length, soundtracked by his own music. The film score is as impressive as the movie and will be released by Musique Large under the title Variations sur Artémis with an additional three remixes and an alternative version of the title track/single Chewing Gum by Mesparrow. The soundtrack is mixed and arranged by Remi Alexandre, member of french band Syd Matters.
Based around synthesizers and horns, the score developed by Hubert Viel is subtly hypnotic and immerses the listener just as easily as it does while wat- ching the movie. The release features six original tracks from the movie along- side three remixes from Gregaldur, guitarist from the alternative lo-fi scene who appears in the movie as himself during a concert scene, Anne Laplantine, whose remix offers a unique approach that synthesizes the entirety of the score, and Jean Nipon (Clek Clek Boom), rising star of the Paris electro scene whose remix adds a sophisticated touch to the package.
